The Adventure Learning charity, Wide Horizons, have launched the new #sharingadventures competition, for secondary schools. Two schools can win an adventurous residential visit to Wales worth over £10,000 for each school.
The charity is offering a free five day residential Adventure Learning experience which will take place from 9-13 May 2016, where pupils will engage in a number of outdoor adventures including canoeing, gorge walking and rock climbing.
Adventure Learning develops children’s personal and social skills such as trust, resilience and cooperation, and also provides opportunities to learn curriculum based subjects.
To win the competition schools are asked to produce a one minute video showing what they hope to achieve during the week and what they expect the impact of a week of adventure in Wales will have on them and their school.
Alex Brooks-Johnson, Wide Horizons CEO, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for schools who might not usually be able to afford a week away, or who have not previously considered incorporating Adventure Learning into their curriculum.” He added “We believe every child should have access to adventure as part of their education and development, and we hope that this competition will enable some pupils who couldn’t otherwise afford it to experience the benefits of Adventure Learning.”
The closing date to submit the video is 31 January 2016 and the competition winner will be announced shortly after.
