Resident Jenni Brady is currently looking for suitable premises in Catford to create an interesting space. Jenni’s idea is to open a vintage shop and tea room in the high street.
Having done some research that proves her project is much needed and wanted by the local community, Jenni has set up a page on Spacehive to promote her idea.
Jenni says:
It will be a business, but one that encourages local residents to buy locally produced items, in turn, enabling local businesses to develop and grow. It will be a beautiful, relaxing community space to be enjoyed by residents, a much needed change from the pound shops and bookmakers that currently occupy Catford High St. My shop will aid the regeneration of the local high street by creating a beautiful shopfront and inviting window display. This will encourage similar businesses to open as we have seen in Hither Green, Lee and Forest Hill, in turn this will encourage footfall back into Catford High Street and Rushey Green.
Already there is HUGE local support from local residents on my Facebook page , Local Councillors following my Twitter feed, I have started a WordPress blog to keep supporters updated.
As of yet there are no suitable premises but I am in contact with local councillors and have registered my interest in the new enterprise hubs which are being built.
For more information follow on Twitter and visit the project page.
Very brave. Good luck.
This sounds like a great idea & will add to the area. So I will deffo visit.
