Last year’s Catford Film Festival was such a success that Catford Film want to do it again. This year volunteers are crowdfunding to deliver an even bigger and better festival.
Plans for the Catford Free Film Festival 2017 are ambitious, and will include nine days of free film screenings, entertainment, film making workshops, industry Q+As and a 72 hour film challenge to encourage and nurture Lewisham’s established and aspiring film makers.
While the entire programme will be free to the community, there are costs involved. That’s why Catford Film, the volunteer-led, not-for-profit group behind the Festival are appealing for support for the festival on Crowdfunder.
Just like last year, all of the money pledged will go directly to supporting the Festival and cover the costs of venue hire, film licensing, equipment hire and other essential costs.
Keith Arnold, Chair of Catford Film said: “Last year’s festival happened because local people and businesses believed in our plans and backed the project.
“We’re appealing for support again this year and need people to donate on our Crowdfunder page by 17 April so we can deliver more great film in our community.
“Hundreds of people attended Catford Film events in 2016, but we can only deliver the fantastic festival that we know local people want if we raise enough money. Please support our plans and share our campaign.
“If we don’t meet our target of £13,000 by 17 April, the film festival won’t happen. So whether you can spare a fiver, of fifty quid, if you believe in film and want to see more of it your area, please support our appeal.”
All of the money raised will help to provide a programme of fantastic screenings and events, celebrate Catford and bring together the whole community.
Catford Film was established in early 2015 and has already delivered:
- FREE monthly film screenings at the Catford Constitutional Club
- A gala screening of ‘The Great Gatsby’ at the iconic Catford Broadway Theatre (September 2016)
- A packed out screening of ‘I, Daniel Blake’ at the Catford Constitutional Club, which attracted more than 200 people (January 2017)
- Outdoor family screening of ‘Grease’ on Culverley Green (May 2016)
- Outdoor screening of Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ on Catford Broadway (September 2016)
This project will only happen if at least £13,200 is pledged by 6:29pm 17th April 2017.
