Fancy some wood chopping and bramble hacking? How about running?
Many of us make resolutions to get fit and stay fit but don’t do anything about it. Some of us have gone as far as signing up for a gym only to go to a few sessions before throwing in the towel. If this sounds like you, maybe it’s time to try something different.
GoodGym encourages people to combine exercise with doing something good for the community. Good Gym supports local projects, and you can choose from three different programmes: Good Deeds, Coach Runs or Missions.
Wildcat Wilderness is running a starter session on Saturday 28 January. If you can’t make that you can still sign up to GoodGym Lewisham.
Group runs are led by qualified running coaches. New runners and people of all fitness levels are welcome and they have a leave no man behind policy. Just turn up at the start point or sign up to a run.
How it works
Meet the group at your area start point, drop your bag and run to a local community org that’s asked for help.
Work hard with the group digging, lifting, scraping and clearing for a good cause
Run back to our start point. The run back will give you a chance to push yourself with some intervals or a fitness session.
Sounds like fun? Find out more.
